WELWITCHIA UNIVERSITY SIGNS LANDMARK MOU WITH KENYA MEDICAL TRAINING COLLEGE TO ADVANCE HEALTH EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

Nairobi, Kenya – March 6, 2026 – Welwitchia University is proud to announce a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), signed on March 3, 2026, at KMTC headquarters in Nairobi. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in international collaboration, fostering innovation in health training, research, and capacity building tailored to Namibia's needs.
The agreement was formalized by Welwitchia University's Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Marius Hedimbi; KMTC CEO, Dr. Kelly Oluoch; and Welwitchia University Council Chairperson, Dr. Monika Pendukeni. It establishes a robust framework for joint initiatives that will elevate healthcare education across borders.

Key Collaboration Highlights

  • Customised Academic Programmes: Introduction of diploma and certificate courses at Welwitchia University, supported by KMTC's technical expertise to meet specific faculty, researcher, and student needs.
  • Resource Sharing and Research: Access to shared libraries, laboratories, and research facilities, enabling joint publications and dissemination of findings.
  • Context-Specific Curriculum: Development of programmes addressing local health gaps in Namibia’s healthcare system, with KMTC deploying experts for training aligned to national priorities.
  • Capacity Building: Strengthened health systems, leadership development, and global health training through collaborative efforts.
