Welwitchia University Hosts Transformative Soil Management Training at Mururani Campus
Mururani, Namibia – [28 - 29 April 2025] – Welwitchia University proudly hosted a comprehensive two-day training workshop titled “Soil Management for Sustainable Agriculture” on 28 – 29 April 2025 at its Mururani Campus. The event was expertly coordinated by Mr. Gabriel Almandu, Head of Campus and Program Coordinator, and attracted a vibrant group of 60 enthusiastic students from various agricultural disciplines at the Welwitchia School of Agriculture and Nature Conservation in Mururani. This training marks a significant milestone in the University’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical, industry-relevant education that addresses Namibia’s pressing agricultural and environmental challenges.The workshop was organized in partnership with GIZ Namibia’s Farming for Resilience (F4R) Project and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR/DAPEES), reflecting a strong collaborative effort between academia, government, and international development partners. This alliance underscores Welwitchia University’s role as a key player in Namibia’s agricultural sector, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application to build a skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable development.
The two-day workshop was designed to provide students with both foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in sustainable soil management practices. The curriculum was carefully structured to include a balanced mix of interactive theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations, ensuring that participants not only understand the concepts but can also apply them effectively in real-world farming environments.
